WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Brother’s Keeper is a reference to the story of Cain and Abel which appears in the Torah, Bible, and Qur'an. God asks Cain where his brother Abel is right after Cain killed him. Cain replies, “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

This story gets to the heart of the matter – we struggle to care for the sojourner, the foreigner, the refugee, not because they are so different from us, but because we can’t even get along with our own brothers and sisters.

Brother’s Keeper exists to champion the voices of the vulnerable and to advocate on their behalf.

The stories on Brother’s Keeper International were gathered from 2016 - 2019. Explore the website to learn about the experiences of people from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and the locals who welcomed them in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, and Greece.
